Farkle Companion
How ORYAN Studios turned a familiar table-game problem into a released iPhone and iPad app with fast score entry and a room-facing scoreboard.
Keep the scorekeeper fast and keep the table informed.
Table play gets harder when only one person can see the score.
Generic score apps can track numbers, but they often leave the rest of the table asking whose turn it is, where everyone stands, or whether the score was entered correctly.
Separate score entry from the screen everyone watches.
Farkle Companion keeps turn controls, keypad entry, undo, commit, and bust actions on the device in hand while a dedicated scoreboard presents rankings and the active player to the room.
Make the shared display feel like part of the game.
The scoreboard uses large values, clear player emphasis, and a presentation designed for TVs and mirrored displays instead of stretching a phone interface onto a larger screen.
Two views, each designed for its job.
These are real Farkle Companion screens: the controller used by the scorekeeper and the scoreboard shown to the room.
A complete product path, not a presentation-only prototype.
The work covered the player workflow, shared-screen behavior, release preparation, public support paths, and the product details needed after launch.
-
01
Table-first interaction design
Score entry, turn actions, undo, commit, and bust controls are organized around the pace of an active game.
-
02
External scoreboard experience
A separate room-facing layout supports TVs, AirPlay, and mirrored-display play without duplicating the controller screen.
-
03
Game-state recovery
Persistence handling helps an active session recover more cleanly when the app or display workflow is interrupted.
-
04
Release and support structure
The public product page, privacy disclosure, support route, App Store link, and post-release roadmap stay connected to the released app.
Released publicly on the App Store.
Farkle Companion moved beyond an internal build into a public iPhone and iPad release. The current product includes the core table workflow and shared scoreboard, with post-release work focused on display fit, reconnect clarity, persistence, and scoreboard polish.
